Donnapa Phurphangam is based in Bangkok, Thailand. She favors watercolors and oil which she deftly applies to examine the interplay between human existence and the natural world. In her paintings, she investigates the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth as well as the interactions between these stages.
This is evident even in the artistic process of her paintings: while she uses live models as inspiration, and takes photographs of them in various poses, their image is translated into cadavers on her canvas.
Flowers surround the cadavers in various stages of bloom; before selecting a flower for her paintings, she carefully considers its symbolism and observes it in its native habitat in Thailand. By this juxtaposition of life and death, Donnapa seeks to create new forms of beauty in her art works.
Donnapa holds a Master’s Degree from Silpakorn University (2021).
