Alameda, CA, March 11, 2024 – ROUNDCOLLAB Contemporary Asian Art 圆和艺术 will feature 17 pieces by contemporary Asian artists at the upcoming March Gallery Auction at Michaan's Auctions, on Friday, March 15th, starting at 10 a.m. PST.
This will be the first major offering of contemporary Asian art in the 22-year history of Michaan’s Auctions, which is the West Coast’s largest full-service auction house.
"We are thrilled to be providing Michaan’s discerning collectors with contemporary art pieces that are diverse and innovative,” said Firdy Arman, founder of ROUNDCOLLAB. “Our showcase is an exciting opportunity to expand the reach of our prolific artists’ work through Michaan’s, with thought-provoking, investment-grade contemporary art that remain true to their Asian roots in terms of aesthetics, values, methods and materials."
Mathus Kaewdam, Nothing Here?, 2023. Digital collage print on Tibetan thangka scroll, 39 1/2 × 78 1/2 in.
Presenting a line-up of contemporary Asian art at the auction, Michaan’s join the ranks of other major auction houses, such as Christie’s, who are collaborating with fine art galleries to include a broader range of perspectives into their offering.
ROUNDCOLLAB brings a fresh perspective to the Bay Area arts scene as the only independent gallery in San Francisco specializing in contemporary Asian art. The hybrid-online gallery represents prolific artists from throughout Asia as well as visual arts practitioners that are part of the vast global Asian diaspora.
"This upcoming showcase allows us to highlight the immense talent and creativity from Asia and the Asian diaspora, thus providing underrepresented artists with greater opportunities in the $30.2 billion U.S. art market,” said Firdy Arman.
